The Nahr el Bared Emergency & Recovery Information System is an online platform aiming at consolidating and centralizing all resources and information regarding aid provision to the Nahr el Bared's affected population in North Lebanon. The platform has a multi-layer categorization system, that allows ease of access and is customized to help the users locate information they need in an efficient manner.

بعد الحصول على كل التصاريح اللازمة لبدء الاعمار ، لا تزال الاونروا و المجتمع المحلي بانتظار الانتهاء من مواجهة العقبة الاخيرة والتي نأمل ان نتخطاها باسرع وقت ممكن . لقد كان اكتشاف الآثار في نيسان الماضي امرا غير متوقع ،وقد أدى الى مزيد من التعقيد والحاجة الى خطوات اضافية يجب الانتهاء منها قبل ان تبدأ الاونروا بعملية طمر الآثار.

أ- اعــــادة الاعمــــار :

خطوة أخرى نحو البدء باعادة اعمار مخيم نهر البارد تتحقق في الأسبوع الماضي مع صدور رخصة الاعمار للرزمة الاولى . حيث سيبدأ العمل فور انتهاء المديرية العامة للآثار من أعمال المسح في هذه الرزمة ، وتحديد طريقة طمر الآثار والموافقة عليها. وإنجاز هذه الخطوات يتطلب تعاونا وثيقا بين الأونروا والمديرية العامة للآثار.

وقد وجهت الوكالة رسالة قبول الى المتعهد الذي تم اختياره ليقوم باعمال البناء في إطار الجداول الزمنية المتفق عليها.

1) Reconstruction
The detailed design of Package 1, the Masterplan and the Expropriation Decree Amendments were all recently approved. This is a great achievement and we thank all relevant authorities. Reconstruction will be kick-started once the following ongoing processes have been completed:

o Issuance of construction permit for Package 1
o Completion of the expropriation process
o Finalization of technical details with the Director General of Antiquities (DGA) on the methodology of backfilling and survey of antiquities in Package 1

Summary of Findings

  • A major problem for UNRWA’s food/NFI distribution programme has been the shortcomings in funding since the launch of the RERA in September 2008. Even though the distribution programme has priority among the PMU activities, it has had to suffer cutbacks. Nevertheless, some new donations have been secured, and others are probably in the pipeline.
  • Since the 2007 NBC Crisis, the proportion of in-kind donations have descended, and have been replaced by monetary contributions, some earmarked and some without conditions.
