Introduction

The Nahr el Bared Emergency & Recovery Information System is an online platform aiming at consolidating and centralizing all resources and information regarding aid provision to the Nahr el Bared's affected population in North Lebanon. The platform has a multi-layer categorization system, that allows ease of access and is customized to help the users locate information they need in an efficient manner.

Welfare Association in partnership with several other organizations and with the financial support of the Big Lottery Fund UK, have developed a project that aims to “Empower Nahr el Bared returnees/displaced to transition from
crisis to Recovery”

The project will address immediate and medium‐term mental and physical health needs of the most vulnerable population
among refugee families displaced from the destroyed Nahr el Bared Palestinian refugee camp, as well as medium‐term

o MDM Psychosocial coordinator and UNRWA MDG-F Officer introduced the “IASC Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Guidelines for Interventions in Emergencies”. The handbook which was prepared in 2006 is considered a tool for organization working on MHPS to coordinate, plan and implement their activities in emergency settings. The speakers invited participants to a one day workshop to explore the content of this handbook, to train them on how to use it while implementing their projects and how to benefit of all the tools in the book.

 The cluster lead announced that UNRWA will do reform to its 26 clinics in Lebanon. The total of 60 employees developed the plan after a series of meetings with UNRWA health caretakers, focus groups with patients, and filling out the total of 1,500 questionnaires on the subject. The project will start as pilot project in few clinics in Lebanon including Beddawi Clinic in the North.

UNRWA Health Coordinator opened the meeting by welcoming participants. He noted that the objective of the meeting is to discuss a drugs awareness campaign targeting youth in the camp. He sensitized participants on the importance of, the campaign, a comprehensive intervention plan, and the need for joint efforts to address such issues.
He also shared a list of suggested activities for the campaign:

 UNRC started by briefing participants about the visits undertaken with UNRWA to update the Health Action Plan. The visits included PRCS (Al Hilal), Al Shifaa and Beit Atfal Al Somoud. Dr. Matari underlined that Al Shifaa are charging examination fees and that this issue needs to be examined further. Mr. Ahmad Daoud commented that charging “symbolic” fees is sometimes a donor condition in order to avoid system abuse. Dr. Matari affirmed but stressed that a review of AlShifaa needs to be done.

On H1N1, Dr. Matari informed participants that the awareness campaign continues, the competition between schools started, and only four schools did not pass the evaluation. UNRWA will conduct this competition in all its schools in Lebanon.

Psychosocial Support Working Group Website

The Psychosocial Support Working Group has launched their new website http://www.pswg.net, which was developed by Lebanon Support

The website consolidates all information related to psychosocial and mental health programs and projects targeted towards Palestinian refugees in Lebanon
